Black is the new Black: Three Staples for Fall/Winter

Black is the new Black. Why fix what isn’t broken?

Black is the new Black, so here are three Staples for Fall/Winter. Every fall, new trends come and go, clogging up our feeds and our closets. What does not seem to fade after a brief season in the limelight? Black accessories. There is something so classic about a chic pair of black boots, heeled or not, that pull any outfit together. Add in a black coat or a black turtleneck and you have a whole new wardrobe to work with. See, these pieces can make any old outfit brand new for the chilly season up ahead. Seeing as a nice, dark red is one of the featured colors on many of the newly released fall lines of several brands, black pairs oh so nicely!

Black is the new Black: Three Staples for Fall/Winter: A Black Turtleneck

Turtlenecks can elevate an outfit for almost any occasion. From college game days to hockey games to a night out, there are so many ways to style this simple garment. Also, within the sweater sector, there are several different types of this particular strain of sweater, so you are bound to find one, or many, that suit your personal style.

A thin ribbed turtleneck is perfect for layering under sweater vests, coats, or even styling with some dark blue jeans.

This Splits59 sweater from revolve is perfection.

Wanting a heavier sweater for the colder months? This Merino Wool-Blend Turtleneck Sweater might spark your fancy.

Black is the new Black: Three Staples for Fall/Winter: A Tall Black Boot

Now, this is not a new take by any means.

A black boot, heeled or not, is a must-have in any closet. For a night out on the town, pair them with a fun going-out top and a black mini skirt with a leather jacket (or not, if you want to brave the cold). For a more low-key night, style your boots with a pair of flare jeans and a cable knit sweater. You can even style these with a long skirt or a dress, elevating any look.

As the owner of multiple pairs of black boots, I can say for certain they are a need to complete your fall/winter wardrobe.

Now, like the turtleneck black sweater, there are so many styles to choose from.

If you are going for the Rachel Green-chic look, take a peak at these Ralph Lauren heeled black boots.

Not comfortable wearing heels this season? Try these on for size.

Dolce Vita knows how to make a classic boot.

Even Amazon has some great options available, should you need your boots STAT!

Here is just one of the great options available.

Black is the new Black: Three Staples for Fall/Winter: A Black Coat

Take your outfit out of the (figurative) trenches with a black trench coat. Or a peacoat. Or a leather coat. The possibilities are endless. The fashion icons of so many decades can be seen dressing up (and warming up)  their looks with a long black coat , so this is a staple that stands the test of the time. A pair of jeans and a white sweater? Throw on a black long coat and you are instantly pulling off the cool girl aesthetic you see all over Pinterest.

This long coat from Nordstrom fits the bill.

Not a fan of wool or craving an edgier look, throw on a leather coat over your sweater dress and you are good to go.

Loving this leather coat from COS.

Even with sweatpants, you can still pull an outfit together that younger you would think is oh-so-cool and collected.

What’s more is that a gorgeous black coat will go with almost anything. It will keep you warm, and it will help make styling that much easier. Now, that is not to say it is the only coat you will ever want. Even Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, revered style icon famous for her simplicity and neutrality, had been seen in a long red coat. But, if you are deciding between a trendy piece of outerwear and a black coat, black is more likely to stand the test of the time, year after year.

All of these items are guaranteed to remain in style for years to come. Might as well get your hands on them now.

Add these to your closet, and you no longer will have nothing t(w)o wear!

xoxo
