April Showers Brought May Flowers

Florals for spring. Groundbreaking, as Meryl Streep’s character in The Devil Wears Prada would say. But really, sometimes you cannot beat the ‘ole faithful fashion traditions.

That doesn’t mean you have to wear clashing patterns of bright colored flowers or sacrifice your personal style to go along with the trend. But there is a spring bloom for everyone, whether it be in a silk scarf tied around your purse, or a lace skirt with floral accents.

As we start to see warmer weather all over, it’s finally time to break out the dresses and skirts that have been collecting dust in our closets. Put away the wool trench and pull out the small sweaters and cardigans.

Now, don’t get me wrong. I love floral prints on long dresses, and I own lace skirts and shirts with floral accents.

But sometimes, you want a little touch instead of basing your look around one pattern, so here are some ways to elevate your spring fits.

2 Ways to Incorporate Florals This Spring: Small Accessories

Not everyone is a patterned-outfit, preppy-style person. Especially with trends of minimalism and an understated look remaining relevant this spring, bright-colored flower patterned tennis dresses may not fit into that mold.

But never fear, the beauty can be found in the small details or in statement pieces you tack on to your polished look.

These statement flower earrings are a beautiful way to dress up a monochrome look, or pair with a flowy dress.

A new twist on an old favorite!

Another small way to add a fun touch is to get a printed silk scarf. Versatile as they come, you can wear it on your shoulders, in your hair, or tie it around your bag.

Shop for them at your local vintage store, or browse the web, there is bound to be a pattern that speaks to you.

This one from the Met is beautiful.

For your hair, this beautiful tulip design is a must have.

You can even tie the bigger scarves as a top, as pictured here:

2 Ways to Incorporate Florals This Spring: Shoes

Carrie Bradshaw or, more recently, social media influencers, are big fans of a statement heel. A rose, a tropical flower, or lilies are just some of the blossoming flowers that can be found on some of this season’s shoes.

Personally, I own these Musier Paris shoes in blue with small flower details, and they make the whole outfit when I slip them on.

If you are feeling even more adventurous, Revolve has several options, including  Alameda Turquesa  and Sam Edleman pumps.

If you want to tap into the ballerina flat trend, there are some gorgeous pairs that scream spring and summer.

Or these mesh, light Dolce Vita flats for a spring stroll:

No matter how you choose to do it, one thing is for sure: spring blooms don’t go out of style and are a beautiful way to diversify your look!

Happy May Shopping!
